Web conferencing refers to innovative technologies that allow people to communicate or "conference" over the Internet. The industry is a convergence of technologies developed to provide cost-effective interactive communication channels for individuals and businesses. The capacity of the Internet to span geographic barriers and instantly transmit information makes industry developments inevitable. Often termed Webinars, Internet conferencing technology involves presenting content over the Internet and can range from presenting a PowerPoint® presentation to full voice and video integration. Users view the presentation by logging into an online Web conference and communicating with the moderator either via a a telephone or through a Web-based chat option. During the Web meeting the moderator can interact with participants, view attendee lists and manage communications.
