30 Year Evolution of an Hawaii Solutions
Provider
1972 – Hawaiian Communications was founded by
Larry Hawkins. PBX provider focused primarily on the Hospitality sector.
1976 - Tel-A-Com Hawaii was founded Dr. Richard Kelley,
CEO Outrigger. PBX provider focused primarily on commercial, services,
and integrated applications sectors.
1995 – The two companies merge and form partnership
named DigiTel.
1998 – Digitel purchased by Northwestern Growth
Corp. Renamed Expanets of Hawaii, and made a subsidiary of Expanets Inc,
a nationwide organization with 200 offices generating revenues exceeding
$400M.
1999 – Expanets purchased Communications Resources,
Inc. (CRI), a Hawaii based Professional Services Consulting firm, founded
by Brian Malecek in 1987. Acquisition completes the corporate vision of
a full service "Solutions Provider".
2001 - Mr. Malecek becomes President of Expanets of Hawaii.
CRI’s eleven consultants/engineers become Expanets Professional
Service Division.
2002 – Expanets purchases all of the operations
of NEC Business Networking Solutions (BNS) in Hawaii, assuming service
and support for over 300 customers.
2003 – Avaya, Inc. purchases Expanets, Inc. from
Northwestern Corporation. Acquisition intended to consolidate Avaya’s
customer base on the mainland, while divesting all other business operations.
2003 – (December) EOH Enterprises LLC, led by Brian
Malecek, purchases Expanets of Hawaii from Avaya, Inc. $700,000.00 of
additional capital is infused into the business to further investment
in its customers and technological expertise, while the company continues
to provide uninterrupted service and support. In addition, another $5,000,000
has been committed for future investments in the Hawaiian operations.
2004 – Envision continues to grow and expand its
business with large VoIP enterprise installations, call center deployments
and professional service engagements in data networking and wireless.
Talented and experienced telecommunications and data networking professionals
continue to join the Envision team, bringing the total number of employees
to 65. Envision continues to grow at a rate of 18% over year 2003 sales
due to our successes in the Data Networking and IP Infrastructure sector. Envision
remains a locally managed and locally owned Hawaii based company.
2005 – With major VOIP enterprise deployments in 2005, Envision was invited to participate at the Cisco TechExpo held at the Halekulani Hotel in July, showcasing VoIP, Wireless and Security. Envision Neworked Solutions was honored to be introduced as Cisco’s “Go To” Partner in Hawaii for design and deployment of VoIP solutions.
